SteveTonyFest » Earth 3490
One of the most popular pillars of the Steve Rogers/Tony Stark fanbase, Earth 3490 is an alternate universe to the 616, aka Earth Prime universe. As the picture shows, in this universe Tony Stark was born as Natasha Stark: Iron Woman, and married Steve Rogers: Captain America. The result of this relationship was that it averted the catastrophic Civil War, which is a conflict between superheroes that happens in many universes.
We’re shown Earth 3490 in Dark Reign: Fantastic Four #2. In this issue, Reed Richards is searching for universes where the Civil War conflict is resolved peacefully, or avoided all together. It’s also noted that Hank Pym, aka Yellowjacket, is incarcerated in this universe.
There’s two important things about this universe: 1) This alternate universe indicates that either because Tony Stark was a woman or because Hank Pym was in jail (we’re leaning on the former) it was possible for Steve and Tony to be romantically involved. 2) It was written by Jonathan Hickman, the current writer of Marvel Now!’s Avengers. This is the issue that established his position as the fandom’s favorite ship captain, and he continues to have the same reputation both because of his focus on the Steve/Tony relationship in his Marvel Now! run, and his one joke about blowies that one time.
